Wei Dong received his BS degree in the College of Computer Science from Zhejiang University, and achieved all credits in the Advanced Class of Engineering Education (ACEE) of Chu Kechen Honors College from Zhejiang University in 2005. He received his Ph.D. degree in the College of Computer Science of Zhejiang University. He is currently a research assistant in the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with Prof. Yunhao Liu.

Networked embedded systems and wireless sensor networks, including sensor OS design, reprogramming and dissemination, measurement and diagnosis in sensor networks, etc.

GreenOrbs (2009.4~present). GreenOrbs realizes all-year ecological surveillance in the forest, collecting various sensory data including temperature, humidity, illumination, and carbon dioxide titer. The collected information is utilized to support various significant applications, such as forest surveillance, forestry observation and research, fire risk evaluation, and succor in the wild.
SenSpire (2006.9~2010.8) is supported by the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program) under grant No. 2006CB303000. It aims at designing an efficient and flexible system architecture for micro sensor nodes. SenSpire OS features a hybrid execution model for both event-driven programming and multithreaded programming. SenSpire OS v1.2 also integrates an object-oriented programming language and an Eclipse-based IDE to facilitate application programming. (IEEE TC paper).
Unified Kernel (2006.1~2006.9) is supported by Zhejiang Municipal Science and Technology Project under grant No. 2006C11208. It aims at making the Linux kernel compatible with Windows applications. The PELoader system implements dynamic linking and loading Windows modules (i.e. PE files) inside the Linux kernel. (TechReport).
SMART (2004~2005) is supported by the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program) under grant No. 2004AA1Z2390. SMART-GUI aims at providing a set of optimized APIs for programming GUI-based applications on resource-constrained embedded systems (e.g. Intel PXA 255, and HP IPAQ H5500). SMART-GUI builds on top of a cross-platform multimedia library—Simple Directmedia Layer (SDL), and provides Win32-compatible APIs. (TechReport, Slides).
